Does everyone know how hard it is to find all those 'anime is evil' feature articles and weblogs and stuff when you're ACTUALLY LOOKING for them?

I mean... grah. Just grah.

In other news, I have rediscovered my love of techno-dance. How can you NOT love a song called "Pink Dinosaur"? I mean... yay! Just yay!

Was it the one by Hooverphonic?

Focus on the Family is always good for teh lulz. Here's one on anime overall and how Shaman King and Spirited Away are as bad as porn (I kid...sort of), apparently:

I... don't know. I think the file just says "DDR", which can't be right...

Ah, thank you. That's one down! Now I just need to find one that isn't specifically Christian-based. I really want to refind that "Yammy-Yugi is enticing children into the occult!" video, but no luck so far. It's very sad.

You mean Uncle Jim and Aunt Faith? If so, my dear you asked the right person:

http://community.livejournal.com/playthedamncard/634684.html

I definitely saved that.

And I tried looking for a general because I'm all nerdily interested, but here's two more Christian ones:

1. Christian review of why you shouldn't buy the cards (Pokemon is also seen as a 'no no') or let your child play the game:
http://www.albertweb.com/evenachild/editorials/yugioh.html

2. And this one, because I am deeply offended for my Yuugi-muffin at ChristianyToday's skepticism that Yuugi could be special without Yami when he's a midget and unpopular. D: HYPOCRITES!

I'd try googling for parent's discussion boards + anime in the search key maybe?

I am aware of the issue, yes.

In vaguely-related news that might interest you, I'm about to propose the study of Strikethrough '07 for my Master's thesis. This should be lulzy.

-blink- I am intrigued, yes. But I'm curious to know exactly what angle you'll take on said thesis. Isn't your research focus usually forms of identity? I is to be curious as to how you'll do that...

That... would be the part I haven't figured out yet. >.>;;;

Proposal's due Wednesday, so I hope by then I'll, you know, actually know what I'm doing.

...The consumerist censorship of the anonymous identity? -bricked- Sorry.

But yes. Knowing what you're researching prior to submitting a proposal is usually a good idea. Good luck!

The wrath of the cyborganized versus the indifferent and misunderstanding-like non-cyborganized?

I reread Haraway for a final paper in another class, hur hur. ♥

Other than failing at source-finding, how go your own ventures in academia?

It's... going. I'm doing a creative honours, which means that most of my thesis will be this 'beginners guide' about anime. It won't be that difficult, and it doesn't sound hard, but the annoying thing is justifying abso-friggin-lutely everything I do in said guide in the exegesis.
Researching for creative stuff is hard, because so much of it just feels like common sense to me (and I can't complain to my friends because they twitch at me for thinking it's all common sense)(it's very sad). Right now, though, the problem is the other supporting classes we have to do that don't actually relate to our research. Why must I learn about the oral history of Soweto, I ask you?!

But yes. I have discovered Susan J. Napier, and much like Harraway, I don't know whether to love her or want to come after her with an icepick. Perhaps both could work? Crazy Stalker Syndrome? Y/N?

Oh geez, do I feel you on that. I got bopped for it sooooo many times with my honors thesis. It was eventually explained to me that I was doing algebra without properly laying out the arithmatic beforehand.

I am sorry your supporting classes are irrelevant. That is full of suck.

I feel that way about Katherine Hayles. Crazy Stalker Syndrome is a full go, Y.

Here on LJ, we rebel against the strict confines that get heaped on us by our lords and masters (or, y'know, whatever), by sharing illegal file downloads. Most commonly in the form of 'fanmixes' where people heap a bunch of music files together, make up a CD cover, and make them available for download. The last one I took was a collection of dance music, and one of them just happened to be called "Pink Dinosaur".

I sent you a late-birthday-card the other day! Hopefully, you'll get it soonish. It tells you little bits of information. Very useful. -nodnod-
